Michele Bachman, M.A. LMHC 13788
It takes great courage to address the loneliness, heartache and confusion that we inevitably face as humans. My hope as a counselor is to offer a place where a person can untangle their hurt, confusion and address their messy emotions as we face together the story of their life. I believe our stories matter. All our life experiences shape us. No one escapes suffering. Life is hard. Everyone has experienced a broken heart and shattered dreams. Experiences of rejection, betrayal, abuse and trauma contort the soul. Our soul responds to self, God and others with these contorted relational patterns that connect or sabotage relationships. These contortions of the soul are what I hope to address with each person in the counseling room offering compassion and respect as they journey towards restoration.
Years ago while working on staff at a local church it was brought to my attention how deeply my heart is drawn to hurting people. This led me to pursue a Masters Degree in counseling. I am trained in a relational model of counseling that integrates various counseling theories. I enjoy working with a variety of clients from all stages of life. My work as a therapist includes counseling adults, couples, adolescents and families. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, shame, guilt, spirituality, sexual abuse, self-injury, body image, trauma, attachment, and relational discord issues.
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Human Sciences at Florida State University in 1980. I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. I interned at the Oviedo Counseling Clinic for one year and now work with Journeys Counseling Center in Maitland.
In addition to being a counselor, I have been married for 35 years. My husband and I have enjoyed raising our son and daughter who are now adults. I love oil painting, paddle boarding, cooking with friends and find great delight from a variety of pets. I have lived in the Orlando area over 20 years.
