I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression and/or are experiencing feelings of hopeless as they try to navigate their intense thoughts and emotions.
At the beginning of therapy, my clients often express feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed or burned out. For some clients, they have always had a proclivity to worry, think deeply and feel big but it has reached the point of overwhelm. For others these symptoms have arrived “out of nowhere”.
Do any of these symptoms resonate?
- Anxiety
- Trouble Sleeping
- Overwhelm
- Stress
- Increased Anger and Irritability
- Loneliness and/or Unexplained Sadness
- Racing Thoughts, Overthinking, Obsessive Thoughts, Intrusive Images
- OCD Behaviors
- Feelings of Hopelessness
- Feelings of Inadequacy
- Panic or Panic Attacks
- Problems in your Career/Work: Lack of Focus, Indecisiveness
- Difficulty Making Mistakes; Tend to be Hard on Yourself
- Avoidance of Anxiety Provoking Things/Situations
- Excessive Worry or Need for Control
- Fears that aren’t easily managed (general or specific)
You do not have to be alone in your feelings and thoughts. Counseling is a collaborative process that is different for everyone, but what if it could move you from overwhelm to confidence and peace? In our work together, I will work hard to understand you so that you and I both can have a better understanding of what is going on. Next, we will work on increasing creative skills to help you navigate your thoughts, emotions and behaviors with confidence so that you don’t feel as hopeless against them. As the symptoms decrease, we can also work on some of the deeper root causes if applicable to these issues. I enjoy helping clients know how relationships, self beliefs and experiences have influenced them so that they can have more freedom in how they want to move forward in life. My goal is that you will walk away not only experiencing a lot less of these hard symptoms, but that you’ll also be surprised at how much you’ve learned about your strengths, resiliency and your ability to grow.
Couples and Families: I also specialize in working with couples and families who are experiencing conflict, difficulty communication and a lack of connection and compassion in their marriage or family unit. I primarily use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples/families to deescalate their conflict patterns while renewing a sense of acceptance, connection and compassion in their relationship. We are all different, but working to understand those differences, while having our needs and emotions understood in relationship is key to a healthy relationship.
Diagnosis: If you or your child already have a particular diagnosis I primarily treat the following: Anxiety Disorders, OCD, and Depression. The scope of my practice isn’t limited to these areas. I’d be glad to have a call to discern if we are a fit.
Therapeutic Modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills, Psychodynamic Approach, Marriage and Family Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP, for OCD treatment), Grief Therapy, Mindfulness Training
